What is a Multilingual MicrositeTM?
Definition of "Multilingual Microsite": an abridged foreign language version of an existing web site that is located "inside" a larger site and is generally comprised of one or two web pages that highlight the overall message or mission of the larger site.

What does the service include?
Currently ALT is offering a standard Multilingual MicrositeTM Package for $990, which includes the following:

  • Pre-analysis and consultation
  • Translation of up to 750 words (including meta tags, keywords, description and text in graphics) into THREE foreign languages
  • Our standard translation warranty of up to 180 days
  • Editing costs in all languages
  • Your choice of a single page with bookmarks or two hyperlinked pages
  • Registration with foreign search engines in each language (with up to 5 major foreign search engines where applicable)
  • Your choice of display design: in your mainframe, "pop-up", or new window
  • Localization of up to two simple images: You must provide either EPS artwork with fonts or Photoshop artwork.
  • Turnaround of two weeks: upon receipt of ALL necessary information, including all applicable electronic files

What does the packaged service NOT include?
Package offer does NOT include:

  • web development
  • modification of your home page to link to the new microsite pages
  • localization of animated or complex images and image maps
  • localization of dynamic scripting
  • Flash animation audio or video effects
  • If you wish to include any of these items, we can assist you at an additional cost.

What must I provide?
You must provide the following:

  • Static HTML (if possible, your English Microsite in HTML) or a model page for us to populate with your Microsite content.
  • Concise instructions or ideas PRIOR to the start of the project
  • Artwork for images

Who hosts the translated pages?
We do not host your Microsites, you must provide hosting through your ISP.

I know nothing about web pages. What can you do for me?
We pride ourselves on our excellent customer service. We can guide you through the process of getting your Multilingual MicrositeTM up and running. We can provide many additional services to help you. Some services may incur additional charges. (We will keep you entirely informed).

Are there any hidden fees?
No. If there are additional charges for extended services, we will tell you up front.

How long does it take?
From the time we receive all the necessary materials and information from you, about two week. Some Microsites may take longer, it depends on the complexity of the site, number of languages, and if any additional services are required. We will give you status updates via e-mail periodically.

Do you use machine translation? Who translates?
No, we do not use machine translation. We use only qualified human translators. We have a network of over 800 translators from around the world. Our translators cover a wide variety of special skills as well as a vast knowledge of the fundamentals of successful translation. We assign a team of translators to your Microsite that have a background or specialization that closely match the content of your Microsite.

Will you build a new web site for me?
No, we DO NOT build you a new website. We take a completed English version of the Microsite that you build and localize it or we build the Microsite based on an existing page on your web site.

If you do not have the tools or resources to construct the English version of your website, you may submit your content in a Microsoft Word file or over e-mail along with any artwork that will be translated. We can then use your existing website to construct a custom Microsite for you.

Most companies will want to build their own Microsite in English and submit that. This would be the ideal way to order and will greatly improve the quality of the finished product as well as speeding up delivery. A Multilingual MicrositeTM also comes with a set of buttons customized to the color of your web site. You may use these buttons to link to the Microsites from your home page, or you may construct your own menu system. We also offer custom development services to match any of your needs.

How much for just one or two languages?

  • One language costs $450
  • Two languages cost $800
  • Three languages cost $990

If you'd like to have more than three languages, you can add them at the time you place your order for $300 per additional language. After completion of your original Microsite order, if you'd like to add additional languages, you will pay the single language price of $450.

How much for each additional language?
Additional languages (beyond 3) will cost only $300 each, when ordering a standard 3 language package. Once the Microsites are delivered to you, there will not be an opportunity to add additional languages at this special price. Order as many languages as you need now to minimize future costs.

What do I do if I want my whole web site translated?
We have partnered with one of the leading translation providers in the US, Advanced Language Translation, Inc. to offer WebL10N (Web Localization) to businesses who would like to localize more than just a Microsite. This service includes more comprehensive localization as well as support for dynamic web content.

What warranty do you offer?
All translation work is under warranty for a minimum of 180 days Our warranty does not cover changes to format, content, or translation by the client after delivery. The warranty does NOT extend to submission of your Microsite pages to overseas search engines. We offer:

  • Live online and over-the-phone support
  • E-mail support 
  • 15 years of experience in the field

What do I do if I want to update information on my Microsites?
Drop us a line, we will offer discounts on updates. We keep a translation memory of your content on file in order to provide consistent quality and cost effective translations.

What kind of artwork should I provide if I want images translated?
In order for us to translated any images in your Microsite, we require the design files used to create the images, as well as any special fonts used. These can be in a variety of formats. In special cases we can recreate images if the design files cannot be found, although this may incur additional charges (we will advise you of costs ahead of time) We support:

  • Adobe Photoshop (all versions)
  • Adobe Illustrator (all versions)
  • Macromedia Freehand (all versions)
